About the Role

A great opportunity exists for Building Regulations Consultant or Registered Building Surveyor/Certifier to join our team. The roles involve auditing concept and detail designs, to ensure BCA compliance, managing approvals processes, undertaking construction phase inspections and defects management, and consulting with clients and authorities. The consultant will work closely with project teams to reduce risks and add value to key project decisions through their expertise. You’ll work on a variety of Class 2–9 buildings, from small fit outs to large scale developments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in undertaking BCA compliance assessments, preparing mark-ups and reports for a wide range of Class 2-9 developments.
  • Experience in identifying deliverables required to be satisfied at each of the relevant design, construction, and occupation stages.
  • Experience in facilitating the certification process of Class 2-9 developments from start to finish.
  • Experience in reviewing specialist consultant reports & design documentation and ability to provide compliance commentary as required.
  • Ability to determine at a high-level the appropriate approval pathway for complex projects.
  • Experience in auditing concept and detail designs for BCA compliance and managing construction and defect inspections
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with project teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Post graduate qualifications would also be highly regarded.
  • Professional and motivated with a strong commitment to integrity and excellence
  • Registration as a Certifier in NSW is essential, or a clear pathway and commitment to achieving registration

  • Knowledgeable in the Building Act, Regulations, and NCC

  • Professional conduct and a mature approach to all situations including the ability to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality.
  • Commercially minded and strong client focus
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage clients’ annual fire safety compliance programs
  • Conduct comprehensive fire safety and risk assessments
  • Assess and verify essential fire safety measures for compliance
  • Identify fire safety risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies
  • Prepare clear, professional reports and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with building owners, managers, contractors, engineers and regulators
  • Stay current with changes to fire safety legislation, standards and industry practice
