The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has confirmed that the adoption of NCC 2025 has been delayed.
In previous cycles, a ‘Preview’ version of the National Construction Code would typically be published in February for adoption in May.
However, that won’t be happening in 2025.
No final decision has been made regarding the content, publication, or commencement of NCC 2025, with the ABCB advising that we should continue to work in accordance with the current version of the NCC and follow the adoption timeline relevant to their jurisdiction.
When released, NCC 2025 is expected to be more streamlined and responsive to industry feedback, with updates impacting key areas like energy efficiency, condensation management, waterproofing, and fire safety – based on over 1,800 public comments received during consultation.
At Steve Watson & Partners we’ll be closely monitoring updates and will continue to keep you informed. If you have any questions about how this affects your projects, feel free to reach out to our experienced and knowledgable team.
