As of 29 July 2025, NCC 2022 Amendment 2 has officially come into effect across all states and territories. This update brings the Code into alignment with recent changes to the Disability (Access to Premises – Buildings) Standards 2010, supporting improved accessibility outcomes in new buildings and renovations.
A key part of this amendment is the adoption of the 2021 edition of AS 1428.1 – Design for access and mobility. The updated standard introduces several technical revisions aimed at enhancing equitable access to public buildings for people with disability. These changes mark another important step in the ongoing evolution of building design to better support inclusive and compliant spaces.
